Looking To Create A Money-Making Trade and Construction Video Testimonial? Here’s 5 Questions To Ask Your Client.

First things first.

Trade and Construction testimonial videos are a MUST for your business.

But this DOESN’T HAVE to mean a professional film production video.

Oh no.

(Though this is epic if you are able to do this).

There are other ways you can capture great client experiences that can make for money-making testimonials.

1.    You can record it yourself on your phone.

2. Or you can ask your client to record a selfie video on their own phone to send to you.

There are places for professional videos but there are also places for self/client generated ones too.

And in some cases – the likes of social media – these can be even more powerful.

But what do clients need to say in the videos that can DRIVE your Trade and Construction marketing?

‘Great job. Highly recommend,’ is going to make a very short video.

And not do your marketing many favours.

It is YOUR responsibility to help tease the ‘good stuff’ out of your clients.

And the best way to do this is to ask specific questions that you want captured for your Trade and Construction marketing.

Here's 5 fundamental questions to get answers for to create money-making testimonials for your Trade and Construction marketing…

1. ‘What problems were you having before you met our Trade and Construction business?’

We don’t believe in beating round the bush with your Trade and Construction video marketing testimonial videos.

Unless you’re a gardener perhaps. 🌳

But even then.

Dive straight in and let the first question be about what problem the client had before your Trade and Construction company swooped in to save the day.

Why?

✅  Because we have only a few seconds to capture the attention of the person watching the video - so no need for pleasantries.

✅ It's the problem that the customers face that are relatable.

If the person watching can relate to this problem in some way, they are more likely to stick around for the rest of the video, or at least be intrigued into how this problem was solved.

✅ Your video opener is about your CUSTOMER.

Not you.

There is some serious weight in doing this.

As I mention time and time again, the best trade and construction brand and marketing out there is centred around the customer.

Not just boldly selling your business.

Video testimonials are a brilliant (if not the best) way to combine customer centred marketing with raising your business profile.

💥

2. ‘What Trade and Construction services were carried out to help solve your problem?’

Now we’ve got the audience’s attention with the relatable problem that lots of your Ideal Clients share, we can start talking about the nitty gritty.

This is where you ask the client to talk about what services were carried out to help solve the problem.

Now.

It’s important to note.

You might like to ask them to talk about the consultation/quotation stage here too.

This may very well be a unique part of your business.

For example.

One of our clients is a Flooring company.

He actually goes out to client homes for a free quotation and has STACKS of carpet and flooring samples in his van that he takes with him.

This is for total customer convenience.

Now.

His Ideal Clients are in fact the residential homeowner.

Busy families who are building their forever homes.

How enticing does it look to other homeowners – busy parents perhaps – if the client mentions that the process begun with a free, no obligation quote?

At a time to suit them when the kids had gone to bed.

So they could full focus on all things flooring.

For an Ideal Client – who worries about having to take time out to go to a high street shop that’s only open 9-5 – this Flooring company’s process is a winner!

Like I said.

Every Trade will have their own process.

And if you step out of your business for a second, we might find that in fact there are some big positives that make you different – right form quotation.

So let’s get them on video!

After talking about the consultation/quotation…

The client can then tell us what you advised.

Then onto what services were actually carried out.

This is a great opportunity for upselling.

For example.

You’re a garden and landscaping company.

And on your video testimonial your client mentions how you helped design their garden space.

How you assisted with all the planting.

Water feature designs.

Decking and patios.

But then, the client goes on to speak about how you designed and installed this incredible outdoor fire pit.

A new service you are offering.

That not many people know about yet.

Well.

Now you have a testimonial video mentioning your new service.

A service you are hoping to grow for your garden and landscaping business.

Talk about brand and marketing at its finest. 👌🏽

3. ‘What have you now been left with after our Trade and Construction company carried out this service and how does it make you feel?’

Here is where we want to hear about the game-changers.

What is it that your Trade and Construction company did to change your client’s lives?

For example.

One of our construction clients helps residential homeowners with their lofts and extensions.

So he doesn’t just capture the client mentioning the new loft they’ve had installed.

Which was sensational by the way.

But the relief of the client.

That before the team came in to do the loft, the customer was looking to move as they had outgrown the family home.

They were devastated as they loved the area.

And the children were settled in their schools.

After a conversation with the builders about what was possible for their home (they never thought they’d be able to achieve the room they needed) they now have their loft space as well as an extension that has allowed the growing family to stay put and not have to uproot their lives.

They’ve also now been left with a property worth thousands more than what hey purchased it for.

So in the future when they come to sell in years time, they will be reaping some serious rewards.

What needs to be captured on video?

That these clients haven’t been ‘left’ with a loft and extension.

They’ve been left with peace of mind, freedom to grow, stability to continue the lives they’ve built to love.

All because of a loft and extension.

You see how the AFTERS become so much more important than the ‘product/service’?

Do the same with your Trade and Construction business.

Ask your client about the AFTERS.

And use these as key points of your Trade and Construction marketing.

4. ‘What stood out or surprised you the most in working with our Trade and Construction business?’

Probably my favourite question to ask for your Trade and Construction testimonial video.

Because THIS is where customers can share with us all the great stuff you did ON TOP of the work you were there to do.

The things that we don’t get to see or hear about.

Usually.

Things that made the experience for your customer one to remember.

And use you again and again - or promote you to everyone they know.

Here’s an ACTUAL example I’ve heard in a testimonial for one of our clients:

 🧑🏾‍🍳 A BUILDING COMPANY.

Domestic building company.

Working in a family home with 3 young children.

Of which the youngest – 5 years or so – loved watching the works and ‘helping’ when he was allowed.

The team had his own branded t-shirt made for the little lad for every time he played builders so he could feel part of the team...

How incredible is that for a ‘something special’?

What does this say about the builders that worked in this home?

That they are considerate of the children?

Thoughtful?

Generous?

This had nothing to do with the construction works that were being carried out.

But all played part of the experience.

That the customers were DELIGHTED with.

Telling ALL their connections about this company (a very well-connected couple in fact).

As well as taking photos and splashing them ALL over social media.

Which got a HUGE amount of engagement.

How about that…

When customers do your marketing for you?

These little glimpses of what goes on behind the scenes that you can’t necessarily plaster all over your vehicles or brochure designs, but play SUCH an important part of us learning what type of people are behind the company…

Then use your video testimonials to capture them.

And then when your Trade and Construction testimonial videos are placed on your websites, social media pages or links are sent to them when you sent over quotes, then potential future customers get a real insight into why you are the Trade and Construction company for them.

Crush them with your credibility. 👊🏽

5. ‘Why would you recommend our Trade and Construction company to other people with the same problems you experienced?’

This is a great way to sum up.

Another opportunity for your happy customers to add any final sprinkling of the ‘why’ you are epic.

Trust.

Knowledge.

Workmanship.

A great way for future customers watching your Trade and Construction testimonial video to fully relate with the customer talking and think for themselves how your solution can help their lives and or business.

This could be the final nudge to encourage a potential customer to enquire (if they are viewing this on your website or social media as part of the first time they come across you).

Or.

The nudge they might need to convert and choose your Trade and Construction business over anyone else.
