Creative Ideas: How Your Team Can Help Boost Your Trade & Construction Marketing.

digital marketing - creative ideas: how your team can help boost your trade and construction business marketing graphics

You know that your Trade and Construction marketing is just as important to your business as your work ‘On The Tools’ itself, right?

How else will people know you exist to use you in the first place.

Exactly.

But juggling your brand and marketing all by yourself can be tough.

Especially when you’re wearing a lot of different (hard) hats in your business.

You do the bookkeeping, sales, admin, operations, on the tools AND marketing.

To name but a few.

But for those of you with Team Members, you actually have some help right under your nose.

And you didn’t even realise it.

There are lots of ways that your small (but mighty) team can actually help you with your Trade and Construction marketing ideas – and help lighten the load.

These ideas work well for teams big or small.

And if managed correctly can do wonders to your business visibility.

Once you’ve fine-tuned them all, you may even decide to include some of these tasks in the job roles of your team and as part of your recruitment contracts.

Executed well, these construction marketing ideas not only help build your brand centrally, but also make you more visible to a wider audience by utilising the audiences your Teams may already have.

Without further ado, let’s drill down into how our Team Members can help boost your Trade and Construction marketing…

1. Feature your Team on your Trade and Construction Social Media Live Videos.

Social Media Lives are brilliant for your Trade and Construction marketing for so many reasons.

✅        The social media channel you are using will push your content forward more as you’re using all their tools.

✅       Viewers can watch Live and interact in the comments then and there…

✅        …Often asking questions that you can answer Live to show your knowledge and to show how you interact with people you know and the general public.

✅        You can GO LIVE on site (where safe and appropriate to do so) on your phone, in a matter of seconds – meaning you can create content super quickly without encroaching massively on your day.

✅        We get to see behind the scenes and an insight as to what to expect when you are on our job.

✅        We get to know, like and trust you so much quicker which can go a way towards increasing enquiries and boosting your conversion...

Need I go on?

Lives are awesome.

Personally, I didn’t see the point of them when they first came onto the scene.

But once you embrace them, for a Trade and Construction business they can be an absolute GAME-CHANGER when done well.

Drawbacks?

It can be overwhelming to come up with Live ideas in the beginning.

Here's where your Team come in.

Bring them in on the Live!

Having someone you can bounce off of on video in light conversation - about a job, the site you’re on or where you are headed – can be a great watch for us!

👌🏽        Your Live can feel more natural as you’re talking with someone – not just to yourself.

👌🏽        It will help you extend the length of your Live as you’re having a 2 way conversation.

👌🏽        We get to know the names, faces and voices of others behind the business.

👌🏽        Heck – it may even be quite entertaining.

👌🏽        Your team feel they are PART of your Trade and Construction Brand, not just ‘employees.’

And when the Live is finished?

Well, depending on the platform, your Team Member might like to ‘share’ the video over onto their own page as a proud moment.

Meaning that your video is shared across to their audience too.

More eyeballs and exposure to your business and the great leader/team dynamic you have running in your Trade and Construction business.

Epic.

2. Create individual introduction videos of each Team Member for your Trade and Construction marketing.

This is a nice touch as part of your on-boarding.

When a new team member joins your Trade and Construction business – once they’ve settled in – you could have them feature on their own introduction video.

In branded workwear (of course) a short 1-2 minute where they introduce themselves and their new role in your Trade and Construction business.

Here's all the benefits:

✅        This makes for EXCELLENT social media style content.

✅        It can also go on your Meet The Team/Blog Page of your website.

✅        Sharing content of your ‘growing’ team is a great way to subconsciously tell your audience/new clients that the business is doing well, therefore you must be good at what you do.

✅        As your audience, we feel PART of your business – that you are keeping us in the loop with all your Trade and Construction developments.

✅        If you’re not at a place to get a video production team in for the filming, this style video can easily be made on your phone.

✅        Great way for us to get to know your team member as an ‘ice breaking’ activity if they tell us a little bit about them personally too – their hobbies and interests outside of work.

Like everything in your Trade and Construction marketing, it’s the small detail that builds a brand.

This Trade and Construction marketing idea is an easy one to put together but can have a huge impact on how we frame your business.

3. Encourage work-specific individual social media accounts for team members for your Trade and Construction marketing.

I’ve seen Trade and Construction companies do this and it can be a great idea (provided you have the right team).

Encouraging Team Members to have a separate ‘work’ social media page.

For example.

Let’s take Instagram.

They have their own personal Instagram page @joebloggs.

If they worked for my plumbing company – ‘Pipes Plumbing’ – you/they may set up a separate Instagram @joe.pipes.

Here, they might like to feature their best work.

Our company website would be in the bio. (Great exposure).

And all posts, ‘Pipes Plumbing’ would be tagged in.

The content would of course feature photos and videos of other (willing) team members.

It’s a great way to get more content about the business out, help Team Members really feel they are part of your brand AND reach a wider audience.

This idea is likely to work better with a domestic/residential Trade and Construction business as team members may not have the contacts themselves in the commercial industry within their audience.

⚠️        THIS IDEA COMES WITH HEAVY WARNINGS.

Parts of your brand will be in the hands of your Team members.

Some helpful tips to ensure you keep a hold of things:

⚠️        ONLY grant this access/idea to trusted team members.

⚠️        Create a list of do’s/don’ts and what is/is not acceptable use.

⚠️        You might like to set up the account yourself under business email details and then grant your team members access. This means should team members leave the business you can change details and keep control.

⚠️        Get team members to sign a legal contract to agree all the above.

This idea will need managing but can be very effective if you have the resources in place to keep control.

4. Create team graphics that are shared across your Trade and Construction social media pages.

We’ve been doing this for several years with our clients.

Create Team Graphics to post across Social Media, showcasing the people behind the business.

One of the many reasons this is one of our favourite ideas is because it’s an opportunity to showcase ALL the team.

For some of you, your Trade and Construction business has people working their socks off who are NOT on the tools.

People like Administrators, VA’s, Customer Relations, Marketing etc, who – without them – the business would not function how it should.

Now.

When we are capturing photos and videos on site of our glorious teams, the people off the tools don’t tend to feature.

Branded graphics with a headshot, name, years in the business and even list of hobbies, helps us build a picture of the people we are potentially choosing to work with.

It also goes a way to show us your sizeable, growing team – without leaving anyone out.

5. Write blogs about individual team members of your Trade and Construction business.

Now you have some awesome content about your new and existing team members, why not write up some blogs?

This is a great idea to help with new content – as your Team Member will pretty much be providing it based on the questions you ask them.

The fact you then have a branded graphic or introductory video (or both!) makes for an interactive, visual asset to go along with the written blog.

💡 You could use the graphic or a snippet of the intro video as a social media teaser to advertise the blog!

The blog is a place where you can elaborate on the interview/details about your team member for potential clients to read a bit more.

💡 Keep the links of these blogs in a handy place as they could also be a great detail to send to clients on email when you are confirming their job date as to which Team Member will be turning up on site for them.

6. Make team members editors of your Trade and Construction social media pages.

Another way to help with your Trade and Construction Marketing content.

One for Facebook.

⚠️        This one comes with another warning – Be sure only trusted team members are in on this one.

Make your TRUSTED team members EDITORS of your Trade and Construction Social Media page.

An EDITOR can add content to your page.

But an ADMIN has all control and can boot them off at any time.

Ensure you are down as an ADMIN to maintain control and Team Members down as EDITORS.

Now.

You can be SUPER specific with this one.

Example.

That by making them an EDITOR, Team Members ONLY use this privilege for LIVE videos.

You could create a schedule or announce each morning at the Team Briefing.

Assign one Team Member a day to do a Live Video Stream from site.

(Again, there will need to be a protocol list).

✅        This means that your team FEATURE more in the videos as they are the ones creating them.

✅        We get to spend more time (online) with your Team building the know, like, trust factor.

✅        As the company director, you are released from having to create ALL the content yourself.

✅        There could be incentives or rewards for team members who do exceptional Lives. Member of the Week?

✅        Your visibility online becomes super frequent. Perhaps you are in on the schedule and there is a set day of the week you do a Live about the company.

By becoming an EDITOR, Team Members can also post photos and videos to your page.

Whereas my advice would be NOT to allow all to do this (think of spelling and grammar competency, brand voice etc) you may well have an administer or the marketing person in your business be really great with the copy.

Collaborating with the Trades on site, the schedule could involve the team sending photos of jobs in progress or finished worked to the team in the office who can then create the posts and schedule these to go out Live.

You then have a dynamic mixture of regular content on your page, created and managed BY your Team.
